Cyan, a greenish-blue color. The porcelain glazed with this color is called Celadon (青瓷 Qing Ci). However, this color also comes in a variety of beautiful shades that were used in porcelain throughout Chinese history.
This gaiwan is available in two colors, which are the famous shades of cyan that were loved by people in the Ming Dynasty and the Qing Dynasty. The dark blue is called Ji Lan You (霁蓝釉, lit. clear blue glaze) and the light green is called Dou Qing You (豆青釉, lit. bean-green glaze).
The white glaze in the inner side of the cup and the saucer lights up the gaiwan and makes it easier to observe the color of the tea leaves and the liquor during a Gongfu tea session.
This gaiwan has a large capacity and can hold about 150ml water. We recommend using it for 2 or more people. A solo tea drinker can use this for "grandpa style" brewing to enjoy your favorite teas.
