Black Tea, Jiu Qu Hong Mei

九曲红梅

Produced in the same area as Long Jing, Jiu Qu Hong Mei Balck Tea is a tea that has been largely forgotten outside of Zhejiang. Brought from Jiu Qu of Wuyi Mountains by migrants, this tea breed was settled in Zhejiang more than 150 years ago. The tea gets its name from its fragrance of Chinese Plum - Hong Mei (lit. red plum). With a similar appearance to Lapsang Souchong, in the Zhejiang Province Jiu Qu Hong Mei is one of the most beloved black teas. The dry leaves are dark, curly, and have a sweet fragrance. The tea is mellow and floral - great for people who prefer a gentle black tea.
